Pixelated Providence

Pixelated Providence

Living in Providence, Rhode Island, it’s difficult not to find inspiration in the beautiful architecture and parks of the city. I created the series as a personal project to pay homage to Weybosset Street, the Old Stone Bank, and the Crook Point Bascule Bridge in my pixel art style. The illustrative approach allowed me to be creative, imagining the city as if it were a game made in the 1980’s.

The graphics were made in MS Paint, the default art program of Windows ‘95. The restrictions of the program, such as only having one layer and not offering gradients, contributed to the distinct visual style. The project was a fun challenge and I was glad to honor the city I have grown to love.
