One style I’ve grown to appreciate is the psuedo-three dimensional isometric approach to animation. Four examples include a tribute to New York City, a video of a miniature chess board, a resort island on a golden pillar, and an eerie living room television playing static.
The animation assets were all made in Adobe Illustrator before being brought to life in Adobe After Effects. One interesting challenge was creating the appearance of three dimensions, despite every figure being made up of flat shapes. Giving depth to buildings, drawers, and chess pieces was very rewarding. The animation gives another layer of life to the works.
